   I would like to put photos on my server and then use them in widgets with a link attached.
   When I put them in an image folder and test the url, I get a non access error.

   Where in the wordpress folders do I place the photos so I can use them in the linking widget?

   you can create a folder inside wp-content folder

   and the permission must set to 755 for read access
