• Hey there,

I am really new to WordPress. I looked for a suitable answer in the forum but did not find it. Here is my situation:

I have a blog on blogspot running, but want to move to WordPress (no matter if I can take the posts with me or not). I have a domain already, running on a German host (1&1) – until now I just had a DNS setting to redirect from my URL to my blogspot blog which was very easy to use.

Now I signed up for a host at fatcow and installed WordPress. I want to redirect from my URL lifestyle030.de to my new WP blog, including the stuff that it’s not only a simple redirection but also a full implementation of the URL (for example when clicking on a post –> URL will be like lifestyle030.de/example) – you will probably know what I mean.

I tried to find out what I have to do and where I gotta look, but there are so many possibilites – so what exactly do I have to do now? I would be very grateful for help.

    Thanks

  • You need to change Name servers at your domain name registrar to point to your host

Does not help me at all.. But thanks for response.

More than likely the issue is where your wordpres installation is installed.

If its under your domain folder when viewing it through FTP then then you’re good.

if not then your domain isn’t set-up right.

But this isn’t a wordpress issue its more like a domain to host issue. changing hosts can be difficult and often you won’t see the results you’re looking for for a few hours to a day.

You’ll need to set the DNS of your domain at 1&1 to match the IP address of your hosting account. Chances are you can call your host and have them help point you in the right direction.

You need to change your domain name settings, so govpatel’s answer has told you exactly what to do.

Until you do that you cannot proceed.
