Its likely when you set your hosting up it was done this way.
you can do a htaccess re-write to change it to allow www.

The thing is, when I had a non-wordpress webpage hosted on this domain, both http://mysite.com and http://www.mysite.com worked with no redirections. Then after installing wordpress, I have this problem.
I don’t know where to find the htaaccess file or what to put in it. But thanks for the suggestion.
Do the addresses in your dashboard contain the “www” prefix?
.htaccess is a file you create on your server yourself. And if you use google you’ll find exactly what to put in it.
If you find the need for .htaccess in WordPress information later:
Where’s my .htaccess file? – and – Creating and editing (.htaccess)
.htaccess is also hidden by default. You will need to turn on the “show hidden files” feature in your ftp client or file manager to verify the presence (or lack of) the file. The link I gave you explains how to let WordPress automatically update that file for you, if you need to make changes to it, as well as what is usually found in it by default.
