[Moderator Note: Topic title amended. Your problem is no more urgent than anyone else’s.]

Hi, I’m using JustWrite child theme for my website http://www.hannahstrange.org. I just went into the css functions.php to try and alter the size of the images on my featured post, and – obviously wrongly – changed true to 50%. I pressed save, and my entire dashboard went blank. Every single WP admin page I try to go to is blank, as is my blog. So I can’t get back to the code to change it back, I can’t do anything. Surely it is not possible to lose wordpress entirely because of one css change?? Please help asap!

    Many thanks, Hannah

  • Hi there,
Just use ftp , undo the changes in your functions.php or put a default theme like twentyfourteen instead of theme you are using right now.

Hi, thanks so much – I need more explanation though as I’m pretty new to this. Does that mean I need to reupload to wordpress the child theme files? When I go into the functions.php on my computer, it doesn’t have the changes, it’s as it was originally.

I don’t really know what FTP is, is there a specific programme I need to download for that and then what is the destination I need to transfer to?

I can’t get into wordpress at all so I can’t upload files from there or change to a different theme.

    Really appreciate the help!

Just try switching to the default theme automatically by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.
