Support » Fixing WordPress » Uploads folder issue, correct permissions … wrong group and user maybe?

  • I’m having a rather odd image/file upload issue, everytime WordPress creates a new folder (so at the start of every new month for example) I cannot upload any files to it. I can delete the folder, create my own and it works fine … and yes before anyone says I have set all the permissions to 777 but still it doesn’t want to work, the folder is created and it seems to be created with the correct permissions however you can still not upload anything to it … however I think I have spotted the issue but have no idea how to resolve it, if you take a look at this screenshot

The first four folders 01, 02, 03 and 04 work fine and were copied from a different server, but everytime WordPress creates a new folder it is creating it with the wrong user and group (the 05 folder in this screenshot) … I’m guessing it is creating the folder with no group or user so is reverting to default ‘apache’ … its a bit of a guess that this is the issue, any bright ideas or advice would be very very welcome!

Dear future people reading this post …

I resolved the issue, on the server in plesk (8.3.0) I switched off ‘php safe mode’ and then it simply started working correct!
