    Hi
    I am completely new to this but hope to launch my site http://www.sneakpasture.com in a few weeks' time. I have 2 queries in relation to practising with possible themes;
    1. i'm trying to upload a new theme and get this message
    Unpacking the package.

    Installing the theme.

    Destination folder already exists. /home/sneak9/public_html/wp-content/themes/skins/

    Theme Install Failed.
    where am I going wrong?
    2. I have a site under construction page in place at the moment. i take it that in order to practise editing my selected theme I need to make it live - ie while I am playing around with it it is there for everyone online to see.

    Cheers
    Richard

    1. You already appear to have that theme installed.

    2. Sorry - I'm not sure I understood the question...

sorry but i can't see i have it installed. on the appearances tab on my dashboard on the default, the classic and the under construction page (LaunchPad 1.6) are showing. it also says under Broken Themes that
The following themes are installed but incomplete. Themes must have a stylesheet and a template.

    Name Description
    skins Stylesheet is missing.
can you let me know what to do to rememdy this?

sneak9, you should delete the broken theme before trying to reupload and install it, in case something happened during the first upload. I'm assuming you are uploading a ZIP through the WP admin.

If you get the same issue after, the theme maybe be "broken" (usually the style.css file doesn't have the right commented information.) Open the ZIP you have and make sure it actually contains a file named style.css.

    I checked it - its missing style.css - thanks.
No - I'm uploading the unzipped file to wp_content/themes - is this wrong?

You need to upload the complete theme folder to wp_content/themes.
