Hi, I'm trying to change the smilies from what wordpress uses to ones that I've made so that when I type in :) for example it automatically displays it as my smile graphic. I found out how to do that from this site: http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/smilies/ however, it says I need to upload my images to the /wp-includes/images/smilies folder in binary format & I have no clue how to do that? Has anyone does this and/or know how to do this? Please help!!

Your FTP client will normally handle that for you without any issues. It's rare that you have to manually select binary format.
However, if you are using a command line FTP client, just type "bin" or "binary" and hit enter. Then send the files.
