I get the message below each time I try to insert a JPEG into my posts?

Unable to create directory E:\CustomerData\webspaces\webspace_00169974\wwwroot\hispanicconservatives.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

    Any suggestions please?

I have two other WP sites, and they both work fine? This 3rd one is a new install. In fact, I just tried reinstall it. I'm glad I discovered the problem with the very first post attempt.

    Any suggestions?

The error tells you the problem, is the parent directory writable...

In this case the "uploads" folder...

If it doesn't exist create it, if it does, change the permissions...

As samboll said, is it writable.... all the clues are in the error message... (hence why we have them - to tell us what error occured)...

Is /wp-content writable? Compare the permissions on that directory with the ones that are working...are they the same?

Well I have the same problem since ages. The same message... Since, at least, May. I have tried everything, erased the databse, erased everything started again from scratch... changed permission to everything... nothing. It seems it does not work. Please, if someone can help us...
    Thanks from sandrosamba and frioman

the wp-content and upload folders are set to 777. I compared to the sites that are working and they have the same settings.

I tried unchecking and checking date, time, etc. in the Settings, Miscellaneous area.

I tried manually entering the url path to the upload folder.

    This really is strange?

First install I allowed WP to go to the WP-config database setup screen automatically. The second time I entered the info manually. Same results?

    What about another server...

Even if this means running one locally, XAMP, WAMP, Uniform Server, whatever, just test it away from your actual site...

If the problem disappears then you need to speak with your webhost...

Thanks for the advice. I'll try, even if it scares me a bit. anyway, a details I did not say. Everything happened after the 2.8 version upgrade. I decided to upgrade and then ... hell. Before, using the 2.7 everything was fine. is it common or usual?

Directory permission problems are quite common yes...

I don't think common due to a bug or WordPress problem though, it's generally down to user knowledge and understanding, or hosts that can't configure their servers correctly, the latter being least common..

I've used WP since 2.7, and never had a problem, so i really can't say definitively if there is a common problem in this area, what i can say is it doesn't cause me problems..

In all my time using WordPress i think i've only ever encountered one bug that caused me any problems, and that's now gone after updating to 2.8.. so it's unfair for me to comment conclusively on bugs as a whole..
