• I am trying to upload an image to my blog using the built-in file uploading utility, but whenever I do so, I get the message “The uploaded file could not be moved to .”

Any idea what the error message means? And, while I’ at it, can anyone tell me what file this utility ostensibly uploads images into?

    Thanks for your help.

I’ve read from other posts that setting the permissions for the ‘uploads’ directory to 777 will solve this problem. That doesn’t seem to have worked in this case. Anybody???

Check the sub-directories of uploads/. If you’re using organize by month/year you have more changes to make ;’)

Thanks, Yosemite. I created the uploads/ directory myself, and there are no other subdirectories. Interestingly, when I went backwards and changed the permissions on the wp-content/ directory to 777, I was able to finally upload images, but they stayed in the wp-content directory, rather than being placed into the uploads/ folder. Any idea why? Also, when I send the images to the editor while writing the post, it only puts up the thumb.jpg, rather than the original, even when I specify Using Original in the options menu. It seems you have a handle on the various idiosynchrosies here…any ideas on 1) how to get the images to upload to the uploads/ directory, and 2) how to get the post to use the original image rather than just the thumbnail?

Thanks for your time…I can see you’ve been a great help.

    In Options:Misc I have:
Store uploads in this folder: wp-content/uploads
    (Default is wp-content/uploads)
[not checked] Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders

Sorry I can’t help with 2), I almost immediately got the ImageManager plugin after using the included ‘uploader’. Once. ;’)
