Uploading digital images as imaged not code

When I upgraded recently the function of uploading digital pictures went from being a visual paste into the text to one where a computer code appears amongst the text instead. I have to ‘view the page’ to see how it looks! How do I re establish the visual up loading which I find much more useful and friendly?
