By default wordpress has a wp-content/themes folder in it you add the folder of the theme name and then WP gets the rest from the themes style.css.
Be sure you are extracting you zip file.
Coming in WordPress 2.8 is the ability to install themes from wordpress.org and uploading a theme .zip files from the admin backend.
I’m very novice with the web terms, what do you mean by extracting the zip file?
I have winzip, which I have no clue what the heck it is. Haha. Sorry I’m soo novice about these programs, but if it’s not myspace or blogspot I’m clueless.
The theme that I have is called “playmaker.zip”.
How do I get this theme up on the wordpress? I have tried cpanel all of this. What am I missing?
Thee,
This is what the installtion sheet says;
Within your downloaded theme archive file is a folder called ‘Upload’, you must upload the contents of this folder to your WordPress root directory (by doing so you will be uploading not only the theme, but the accompanying plugins and javascripts used to make up the features of this theme).
Once the upload has finished return back to your WordPress admin and activate the ‘Playmaker theme from your ‘Design’ menu.
You will also need to activate the plugins you have just uploaded, namely the ‘more-fields’, ‘related posts’, ‘post-ratings’, ‘post-views’ and the ‘WP-print’ plugins.
Once you have done the above you should pay a visit to the built-in Theme control panel (under the ‘Design’ menu) to setup the theme ready for first-use.
Even if you do not change any settings, you must hit save at the bottom of the page to activate the default settings – your website/blog will appear broken until you do so.
Full instructions on the themes usage and management can be found at the built-in ‘Playmaker Users Guide’ that appears in your WordPress admin menu.
