Uploading a theme to a wordpress site

    Hi,

    I am trying to upload a free theme to my wordpress website. I do not have hosting yet, as I just want it to be a wordpress website until I am ready to connect the domain name to the blog (and get hosting services). Do I have to have hosting to upload a theme to wordpress?

    I have done some research, but all I can find is that I have to put the theme into the wp-contents folder through FTP- but in order to get into my FTP I have to have hosting.

    Is your site hosted on wordpress.com?

    I signed up for a wordpress account, so i have a websitename.wordpress.com.

    I dont have hosted service yet thought!

    wordpress.com sites can only use the themes provided. You cannot upload any new themes or any plugins and you do not have any FTP access.
