Check that anti-hotlinking isn’t enabled in your hosting account. If it is, try disabling it.
Sorry, but where can I see that anti-hotlinking? Thanks
You need to check with your hosts about this.
Considering I never had the issue before, would it be something they’d have activated recently?
I really couldn’t say. Try asking your hosts about it.
OK I will do tomorrow. One thing though, I had a anti-hotlink plugin installed before the 3.7.1 update. I have deactivated it since, but do you think my issue might be related?
It’s possible. Try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
I will try this straight away and I’ll keep you posted. Thanks a lot.
I’ll be interested to see how this is resolved as I’m having the exact same issue. (Although I have no special anti-hotlink plugins installed.) Everything was working fine until a few days ago. Now, whenever I try to upload an image, I get an error message. I can see the individual image file name when I look in my Media Library. And when I click on the file name I can see my photograph clear as day. But I see this message when I click on EDIT IMAGE:
Image data does not exist. Please re-upload the image.
(I’ve also been unsuccessful in trying to create a simple gallery).
Thanks in advance for any guidance anyone can offer.
@hbowne: Please continue with your own topic. Your problem is almost certainly completely different.
Hi again, I’ve now reset the plugins twice via my 123 reg FTP but the problem is the same…
Hi Cravendale, last night, I un-ticked the box that says “Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders” in -> Settings –>Media. After that I was able to upload images again!
@esmi the issue is now sorted, thanks for your help!
Thanks for the solution – solved mine to – well found
Is there something necessary to enable this Organisation option? I’m using 3.8.1 and have the exact same issue: all the files are there, all are intact, all have the right permission, all the folders are fine, and so forth.
I’ve tried everything, this could be the solution, but I don’t have the checkbox referred to here.
I also had the same problem and got the resolution…
download adaptive-images.php from given link and upload it to main directory.
