When upload files (i.e. a word document) to my blog, when I go to click on/open them, I get a pop-up that indicates that the file is now a zip file, i.e., "Do you want to open or save this file" and the file name has a .zip extention; not a .doc or .docx
Help would be appreciated - I'm not seeing anything like this in the forums; my server/host company said they had never heard of anything like this.

Check with these options:
-> Assign 766 recursive permissions to wp-content folder.
-> Make sure that you have set the proper upload path for your blog.
-> Disable all the plugins and enable it one by one to find out the culprit.
-> upgrade your wordpress to the latest version

have you actually verified what you say in youtr topic title?
Are the files being converted to zips??? Or is your browser giving you erroneous info?
there is a difference, and Ill bet its the latter.

Thanks for the info ... I think it must have to do something with my company's configuration; fire wall or such. Uploading documents from my home PC worked fine, and I can view them fine from the office, so it isn't the browser ...
I'm going to get with my deskside support people here. Thanks again for everyone's suggestions.

Just an update. Turns out that the problem was that I was using the new version of Word, which creates a .docx extension. When I save the docments with a .doc extension, everything works fine. Thanks again for all of the suggestions and help.
