    Hi
Have suddenly experienced some trouble uploding my pictures. Have never seen this error before, and I have tried it with 2.8 and 2.9.

Can not make folder / domains / dive-it.net / www / wp-content / upload / / 2010/04. Is the folder where you want to make it writable by the server?

Have also tried to make the folder manually but it will not write to it.
    The folder properties says:
    drwxr-xr-x 7 ftp ftp 512 Jan 9 00:31 2009
    drwxr-xr-x 4 ftp ftp 512 Apr 6 10:07 2010

Can not make folder / domains / dive-it.net / www / wp-content / upload / / 2010/04. Is the folder where you want to make it writable by the server?

    / domains / dive-it.net / www / wp-content / upload / / 2010/04

the double slash before the date makes me wonder.... do you have the double slash by accident in settings->miscellaneous?

Don't know why the error message say double slash, but it does every time.

    My settings say: /domains/dive-it.net/www/wp-content/uploads/
    My ftp say: /domains/dive-it.net/www/wp-content/uploads/

I have done nothing to the setting since the last time I uploaded something, and had no problem with the up-loader.

Get rid of the trailing slash in the uploads path setting.

Just did so with the same result (except the last slash of course) :

Can not make folder /domains/dive-it.net/www/wp-content/uploads/2010/04. Is the folder where you want to make it writeable by the server?

It has to do something with making of the folder 04 for April. Can not understand why it suddenly refuses to make the folder, or write to it.

Change the permissions on the wp-content directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767 or 777. Once your uploads are working, change the permissions on wp-content back to 755 again and check that everything still works OK.

Have changed the permissions to 777, but still no upload. Its the same error message as prev.

No difference if using flash or browser upload

Try contacting your hosts and see if they've changed anything on the server that could cause this.

I got a very similar problem. I just made a first install of wordpress and apparently it works fine, except the upload pictures functionality. I get the same error. And even making the directory manually wouldn't upoad the file, it still says it can't 'make' the folder regardless of that I alrady made it and checked 777 766 755 666 and similar.

I just fixed it, as far as a can say regarding manually created upload folders.
    I made folder wp-content/uploads/2010/05 744
    I made folder wp-content/uploads/2010 755
    I made folder wp-content/uploads/ 766
    I made folder wp-content/ 777
(and /wordpress 777, will try to go back to 755 here, but later)

Funny how the permissions must get stronger as the directory hierarchy gets higher. I tried more combinations but as far as I saw, this one is the only one that works for me.

I wonder what will happen next month, when wordpress will try to create a new folder.

I'm having almost the same issue, the only difference is that I don't get any error. When trying to upload images from the post editor, it seems as if the upload went all fine, but wordpress actually doesn't write any files to the uploads/2010/05 folder, so no images are in fact uploaded. Tried to play with permissions, even combine them like infomorelos did, but this just doesn't seem to work for me.

Going to try to upgrade WP to v.2.9.2 and see if the problem still exists

Upgrade wasn't helpful, too. Seems like more and more people have the same issue lately, for example, at http://wordpress.org/support/topic/279012 - and yet nobody managed to solve the case.

Can anyone please suggest any solutions? I'm checking all the paths in my code to make sure they aren't messed up, and the permissions for wp-content/ directory are set to 777 until I get this thing to work at all. Really, any suggestion would do, can't stay stuck with the same problem for ages :s
