You have to use upload the files (mp3 AND ogg for each song) manually (either through WP media manager or FTP), then insert URIs for each file type to the "Manage Songs" menu item along with other information for that song.
The player will only play on whatever page/post it is installed on. You could, perhaps, create a "pop-out player" link that opens the player in a new window...

For whatever reason (and I do not know), I have a 10MB limit for uploads while inside my Twenty Twelve theme. So, here is what I do:

    1) Filezilla (FTP access) to upload to my Uploads folder;
    2) "Add From Server" (plugin) to bring the files on into my Media library.

If you wish, take a look here:

Thanks abacus, sounds complicated. Used to just uploading a track onto a media player, havnt got a clue about all this FTP and ogg files. And getting urls, I'm sure like most things it's easy when you know how.

Is there a straight forward media player that you can just upload to ?

    Hi choicedj

You can upload any files to your WordPress site by clicking "Media" tab in your WordPress admin sidebar. This takes you to the area where WordPress is storing everything you upload like images, music, pdfs etc.

So upload your music files there, and when you do that you'll see a field called URL comes up for each file - copy the URL field and paste it into the relevant field for the plugin.

I will be adding a more simple 'upload' button in the future - just not a really high priority compared with several other features.

    Cheers. :-)

Thanks for that Enigma, I have uploaded an audio file to Media and can see it in the library but there's no field that I can see that says URL. I can see over to the right it gives me the option to attach to a page or a post but nothing else. Also should the URL be the attachment link, like this ?

I totally appreciate this isn't a high priority overall, its just a feature I use due to the nature of my business, i had it on my previous website so im keen to get it into wordpress.

What i'm actually looking to do overall is have music play automatically once a visitor hits the home page, something they can control. Only say 5 songs max but as long as its got a volume control and skip facility that's fine.

I'm guessing that I may have to create a static home page as i would imagine any player wouldn't play as part of a blog excerp on the home page.

Is there something I can add as a widget ?

Cheers for all your help :)

In the latest WordPress 3.5 go to Media > edit the image and you will see the URL listed over to the right... Click here for screenshot

Just copy the URL from there and paste into the relevant field in the plugin.

This plugin is really designed as a way to showcase music most appropriate for bands, artist and people wanting to sell or showcase their own music in a nice looking player on a page. If you're after something that does autoplay - more like background music while the user browses then this is probably not a suitable solution.

    Hope this helps

No I don't think its what I'm looking for tbh, are you likely to work on something more like a player solution ? or is there anything out there that you know of ?
