Upload Folder Issues (6 posts)

    Hi,

As many of you will know you can have WordPress sort your uploads into Months/Years folders when files are uploaded.

The issue I am having with a certain install of WordPress is that after WordPress creates a folder for a month it cannot seem to upload files into that folder. This means that every month I am required to go and delete the months folder and re-create it manually to enable WordPress to upload files into it which is irritating to say the least.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this or any ideas how this could be resolved?

    Much appreciated,

    Mike.

Try changing the permissions on the wp-content directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767, 775 or 777. Once your uploads are working, change the permissions on wp-content back to 755 again and check that everything still works OK.

Does this happen for WordPress Admins, or just those with a lesser role, such as those with only the role of contributor, who are restricted from uploading?

    Thanks for the replies.

@esmi I have already tried that, i will try it again later on nonetheless. Have you got any other ideas?

@swansonphotos it happens to Admins so I presume all users until I go and manually delete then re-create the folder myself. After I have done that they are allowed to start uploading.

If changing permissions doesn't help, then it could be a folder ownership problem - which would probably mean asking your host for assistance.

Hmm I thought it might have been an ownership issue, was hoping it wouldn't be. Thanks for the help I'll let you know how I get on.

    Thanks.
