    Hello,
I'm trying to setup WP 1.2 RC2 in a subdirectory of my site and had some minor issues. One of them:
The wiki says I should chmod 766 the directory I want to upload images to. This doesn't work, I'm getting "Permission denied" errors when trying to upload anything. The files aren't uploaded.
chmod 777 works but isn't that a security risc?
    Thanks for any help

I use 777, haven't had any problems ever. Not worried about security on a photo directory

oliver, that could be because of the way your particular server works. Maybe in your server, scripts can upload only to 777 directories, You could contact your hosting provider.

I'm my own hosting provider ;-)
So any hint what to change in apache config would be great...

BTW: MovableType uploads without a problem to a 755 directory on the same host.
