Upload but not make live?

    I am new to this and have no idea of the “lingo” so forgive me.
    We have 3 websites (2 windows based, 1 Linux based). The two window based sites we want to rebuild brand new using WordPress. I understand they have to be Linux based to work with WordPress. But my question is this…I want to install WordPress into the Linux based for both of the new sites, but I don’t want the WordPress ones live until I am ready. I want to be able to work on them in WordPress but keep all 3 of my sites up and running until the new ones are built.

    How can I do this? Create two separate folders in the Linux based to accommodate the 2 new sites? Can I install WordPress and not point them anywhere while I am working on them? It is going to be a somewhat long process and I don’t want our old sites to come down until the new are ready.

    we are on Go Daddy.
