Upload audio in page does not work

I tried uploading an audio file in the media section and then in the add page, inserted it from library. Then I tried inserting it and uploading directly from the add page function. Either way, it says it’s uploading, but when I publish the page, the link is not found. When I peruse the site with my ftp client, I do not see the audio file. The file is large(20 meg) but I have set my php.ini to 40 meg for max upload and max post. If I manually copy the mp3 into the upload location using my ftp client, the mp3 plays. For some reason, the upload is not working on my WordPress site.
