Upgrading WP, Adding BP & Multiple Domains (3 posts)

I've been running a blog via WP 2.6.1 in a sub-folder on one of my domains i.e. mydomain1.com/blog, which I plan to move to mydomain1.com

I'm also ready to update from WP 2.6.1 to WP 3.3.1 and I'd ultimately like to add WP and/or BuddyPress to multiple domains (all separate entities & topics) i.e. mydomain1.com, mydomain2.com, mydomain3.com.

My web host says they can "upgrade my account" to the required versions of PHP & MySQL; so I've backed up my current blog's Database & Files and disabled my plugins but have a few questions:

    1) Which do I do first; upgrade my hosting account to the required versions of PHP and MySQL or update from WP 2.6.1 to WP 3.3.1?? Or does it even matter?

    2) Currently, I go to mydomain1.com/blog/wp-login.php to administer my one blog. Where will I go to administer WP and/or BP on multiple domains after adding them?

    3) My current theme doesn't appear to be available in the WP Theme Directory, how will updating to WP 3.3.1 affect my current them?

    4) What else should I be concerned about before moving forward?

    Thanks!

    1. The MySql version does matter. You have to upgrade it to the latest version if possible. That you will need to ask your host.

    2. url/wp-admin

    3. Check the theme if it's compatible with 3.3.1 otherwise you might need to change to a different theme.

    4. Any subscriber's or email list??

    Richard,

    Thanks, I appreciate your reply!

    1. When I asked, "Or does it even matter", I meant does it matter which I update/upgrade FIRST...WP or my hosting account?

    2. So, if I have i.e. 5 separate domains with separate blogs and/or BuddyPress, I can log into ONE admin area for ALL blogs i.e. (mydomain1.com/wp-login.php) OR will I have to log into to each admin area SEPARATELY i.e. (mydomain1.com/wp-login.php, mydomain2.com/wp-login.php, mydomain3.com/wp-login.php, etc)?

    3) Checking, thanks!

    4) Great, thanks! Unfortunately, most appear to be either bots or human spam ;(
