• So I’m trying to upgrade from wordpress mU 2.8 to wordpress 3.1. According to what i’ve read i upgraded to wordpress mu 2.9 from 2.8 so then i should be able to upgrade to 3.1.
By following these steps, i’ve gotten everything done, blogs running. However, when i “Login and run site admin/upgrade” when i try to login or access anything in wp-admin i receive the following message ” You don’t have permission to view this blog. Please contact the system administrator. ” i’m attempting to login as administrator.

thanks for the input up front.

    Backup WPMU
From your /wpmu directory, KEEP the wp-config.php and .htaccess files and the wp-content directory. Remove the other root-level files as well as the wp-admin and wp-includes directories.
Copy over the new files and the new wp-admin and wp-includes directories.
Copy wp-content/index.php and blogs.php into your existing wp-content directory, replacing the existing copies.
Login and run Site Admin/ Upgrade. This can be a lengthy process, so be patient.

  • So, so far you’ve only put in the 2.9.2 files?

    If so, disable plugins.

already disabled plugins still having the issue.

I am not very on the ball right now but this may help

Did you disable stuff in the mu-plugins folder?

Did you check your username/pass in the db? (which should not have changed but you never know)

I went ahead and just upgraded to 3.1 with the directions. It fixed the login error. However, when i’m logged into the dashboard now the only options i have are..

    “dashboard”
    and
    “profile”

    I am logged admin though.

    Thoguhts?

You are probably just a Super Admin for the network, but not an admin (or possibly even a user) for the site. Click the “Network Admin” link in the top-right of your screen, then click “Sites” and edit the original site. Click the “Users” tab and see if your user is a member of that site or not.

The problem is there is no users tab. Even under the main site, or any site listend on “my sites” drop down at the top.

    Thoughts?

On the NETWORK admin, adjames. Not on the main site or any site. 🙂

Right, when you click “network admin” nothing different comes up. Same exact dashboard with the same two options of “dashboard” and “profile”

And it’s taking you to the URL domain.com/wp-admin/network?

Are you sure you’re logged in as the Super Admin?

    Thread Starter adjames

    (@adjames)

Well it is redirecting me to user/?c=1.

However, i’m logged in as the admin user. Perhaps upgrading from 2.8 to 3.1 I didn’t get a super admin? can i somehow change this in the db?

Do you have an account called admin?

    Thread Starter adjames

    (@adjames)

Yes, that is the account i’m using.

Do you have another account you were using as an admin?

check your super admin permissions in the db, make sure you still have them. site_meta table I think.
