I am upgrading to 1.5.2 at the request of my host, who says the previous 1.5.1.3 compromised the host. I see the Codex directions, but is there a shorter route when upgrading? Where would that be?
Also, my sidebar.php in the default theme has extensive mods in all three of my wordpress blogs. Can I keep this file in updating in the blogs or do I have to reedit all of these sidebar files?
Your sidebar.php is located in the wp-content/themes/yourtheme folder. It says explicitly in the instructions to NOT touch that folder.
Just follow the instructions and you will be upgraded in literally minutes. I did it in less than 3 and I heard someone else did it in less than 2 minutes. It takes longer to read the instructions.
