Upgrading to 3.6 - database loop (14 posts)

Hi. I upgraded my wordpress from 3.5.2 to 3.6, and after the installation I "can't access" my admin page.

When logging in to the control panel I get a note that the database should be update. I press "update" and I get to the site that says I'm good to go. When pressing "next" from this site, I just get back to same page that says I need to update my database.

    This what I have tried:

    - Manually overwriting the wordpress version with a new fresh file
    - Changing the name of my custom theme
    - Checking my .htaccess, too see if it was empty (it was not)

What should I do with this? I updated another site just after, with no problems. Maybe the plugins?

I'm worried about installing this also..especially seeing what larsen has encountered. If I don't install it..will things still run ok?

    Try:
    - switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme's folder inside wp-content/themes and adding "-old" to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    - re-uploading all files & folders - except the wp-content folder - from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    - running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

Please try reading the post above. None of the suggestions made require you to login to your WordPress dashboard.
