[resolved] Upgrading to 2.0 problem. "It doesn't look like you've installed WP yet." (4 posts)

I found the instructions on upgrading from 1.5 to 2.0 to be well written and easy to follow. I was, however, unsucessful.

After running wp-admin/upgrade.php I navigated through the process to the "step 1" page, no problem. After clicking on the "Have Fun!" link I was redirected to my main page. (as I should be).

What I saw was a white page with, "It doesn't look like you've installed WP yet. Try running install.php."

If I do click on the "try running install.php" link I get the "You appear to have already installed WordPress. To reinstall please clear your old database tables first." page. Which I would hope I get, so that's good news.

After surfing through the pages and help files, codex and Google I discovered some info on editing the database directly to make some changes concerning site_url and home. And yes, those were wonky and I made the appropriate changes.

    Still no joy.

I read each post in the forum here concerning updating.

    No joy.

I searched the forums here, and again, no joy.

I tried to re-upgrade twice. No joy.

I've checked and double checked file permissions. I've deleted install.php. I've manually edited the config.php file.

I am running my own server on a Linux/Ubuntu/Debian distro with Apache 2.0.54, MySql Ver 12.22 Distrib 4.0.24, and PHP 5.0.5.

This configuration worked well with WP 1.5.0

I didn't run any plugins and I didn't have any personal hacks (on this server or this install anyway).

I'm stumped and posting in a forum. How hard up can I be?

Fixed! I don't know the solution or what the problem was, but I downloaded the .tar file again, unpacked it again, reupgraded again and it worked. I wonder if it was just a corrupted download?

Most likely, yes. It easily happens to any of us :)

    Hi,

This question may sound silly... but shouldn't the update just one click away from fantastico cpanel. It was usually the case from 1.2 to 1.5.2.

I check my fantastico installation and it says I'm running the latest 2.10.2 r5. But I don't seem link prompt on my fantastico cpanel.

Is this (one click update on cpanel) no longer hold true?

I've a couple of blogs that have quite alot of entries and I fear if I would to delete the 1.5.2v wp files and then upload the v2.0, I might delete some other stuff.

    Please advise
    Thanks
