Upgrading, problem uploading files (4 posts)

    Hello,
Today I tried upgrading wordpress from 2.6.0 to 2.6.1. I worked in a way and the site is up running. But I hade some problems coping the new files up to the server, \ wp-admin \ includes \ class-pclzip.php among others. It asks me if I want to replace the file, I say yes and it stop on 53%. then the ftp client gets an error. The thing is that I was stupid and deleted wp-admin and wp-include catalogues on the server before coping the files to the server…
I have tried with Window ftp, my webhost’s client, filezilla and dreamweaver. I have chanced the file rights to 777. But it still doesn’t work.

I have surfed around little and people are talking about the “wordpress-automatic-upgrade” plug-in. I don’t have that one installed. But I have had a problem with akismet. It crashed my back end panel, it turned white. So it isn’t activated any more.
I decided to try to install “wordpress-automatic-upgrade” and see if it fixes the problem. But it hangs itself on pclzip.lib.php 52% when uploading. Something is obviously wacky with ”pclzip”.

Any suggestion of what I should do? The site is up and rolling with out any problem. I have a lot of posts and categories and I have designed my own theme. Which is depended on the same category numbers if I should install a new fresh copy of wordpress?

I have a sql back-up of my database.. I figured I install wordpress, and then the plugs I want and after That I would replace as few of the newly fresh tables with my sql-script (back-up) but which tables would that be?

    Any suggestions? Many thanks.

you use an ftp client, and you upload the files. You dont need to screw around with the database. If you cannot ftp the stuff properly, which I find HIGHLY suspect, contact me outside of the forum -> village-idiot.org @ whoo (reverse that) and I will do it for you.

Please be aware that I may not respond immediately -- Im in the middle of some house repairs and then need to do an upgrade for someone else.. so you would be third in line. I am, however, willing to help you tonight, as long as you are patient.

I am having the exact same issue: unable to upload class-pclzip.php via Dreamweaver or transmit (both FTP).

Has anyone any idea what could be causing this? I have a virtual server, and multiple domains/blogs are causing the same issue.

    Thanks

dreamweaver is not an ftp client.

... and multiple domains/blogs are causing the same issue.

that should tell you its the way you are connecting, or the client that you are using, or a combination of problems..

why not try another FTP client?
