• My mind is on overload and I’m drawing a blank.

I manage a few WP sites, and a few Joomla sites. Joomla has a new module called Akeeba that allows the user to upgrade their versions with just a simple click.

Does WordPress also have a plug-in that needs to be downloaded and installed? Or, is clicking the “auto upgrade” button usually sufficient?

Early on when I first installed my WP versions, it was recommended to do everything manually, but I have read that things have changed.

Is it still adviseable to do upgrades manually, is there a plug-in I should download and run (similar to the Akeeba), or it best just to click the “automatically upgrade” button in the back end of WP?

    Thanks for your suggestions.

Thanks for the fast reply. I do see that option from the dashboard – but my question is, is that a safe & reliable option to use? Previously (a couple of years ago when I first started out using WP), it was recommended to always do upgrades manually. Is this still the case? or is the automatic upgrade thorough and reliable now?

Thanks again for any info you can provide!

I have been using ever since I have been using wordpress 3.0 and have not had any problem yet it also depends on the server and connection so far I have not had any problems.
