** Make backups of your database now!
Could always upgrade to 2.6.2, then do Manage->Export, drop the databases, do install.php, then do Manage->Import->WordPress.
But otherwise the Database Description article will show you the standard WordPress tables.
As far as the options put into the wp_options table, you’d have to check each one individually.
I don’t quite understand this part. Is it in wordpress or mysql console?

Thanks for replying Miachael.
the manage -> import/export functions are in the wordpress admin
of course you can do the same with the database and phpmyadmin in your host’s cpanel – it’s just the wordpress one is easier
maybe I can swoop in here with my problem as I’m also upgrading from 2.04. I tried it on a testblog and it worked perfectly well, but when I’m trying on the real blog (http://www.japankino.de), i don’t get the “WordPress needs to upgrade your database” screen. Instead I’m redirected to the login-page, but I cannot login. Also, the blog doesn’t display any content. So I’ve turned everything back to 2.04 again…
Could the problem have to do with plugins that i installed and which created additional tables in the database? Like download-manager or wp-table?
thanks for suggestions on how to solve this!
just a quick update: instead of going directly to 2.6.3 i upgraded step by step and everything seems to be alright. 😀
So what you’re saying is you upgraded to each version between 2.04 and 2.63?
Thanks.
Please provide step by step installation guide for upgrade to 2.63. Do not want to risc loosing data in exisiting blogg. All i find is about installing from scratch.
Thanks!
