upgraded to 2.5.1, inserted galleries destroyed

After the upgrade, all my new galleries created in version 2.5 are all screwed up, malformed and utterly destroyed. I can find nothing online mentioning this – all plugins were and are off – now all the work I put into this site is wrecked. Does anyone know what the deal is?
