[resolved] Upgraded, looked terrible, re-installed old version, now broken. (19 posts)

    Hi
    I recently updated the Theme and found it added horrible dots under everything, re arranged my sub heading to be on an extra line and added nasty big buttons under the header.
    So I went back to version 1.6 and now I can no longer read my posts! It's putting the text as the same colour as the background, but from what I can see in the code it shouldn't be, but it is! :/

    any help on this would be great

    I have had to colour the text for each page just so it is readable, but this has then made my links no longer change colour when "hovered".

    Also the "dots" next to links in my navigation (in my side bar) are also now showing the same colour as the background, pushing the text links over to the right making it look wierd.

    PLEASE HELP!!!!

    Here's my site: http://www.wayofinfiniteharmony.org (all pages there I have manually coloured the text so it is readable, but you should notice the dots on the right (navigation) aren't there). here is a defunct page that has no text colouring and in unreadable as an example of what I am struggling with http://www.wayofinfiniteharmony.org/scriptures/

    I really liked this theme and can't believe I updated it thinking it would be even better to find it got worse and then when I tried to go back it broke!

    Looking forward to getting it back to how it should be with your help.

    Cheers in advance!

    What do you mean by, "the dots"? The only thing I can see relating to this on the theme's demo site is, "Search ..." in the search form.

    if you highlight the navigation link and continue left, you will also highlight a "dot" that is being shown the same colour as the background
    eg: it says atm

    Gallery
    Contact

    but shud be (not a full stop tho)

    .Gallery
    .Contact

    the dots are low on my priority list however.
    having readable text and hoverable links is my primary concern

    How did you make this change before?

    1.6 as once it went to version 2 the sub heading is broken onto 2 lines. (i have tried all theme variations from 1.4 to the latest 2.10)

    This is the style.css file for Sixhours version 1.6:
    http://themes.svn.wordpress.org/sixhours/1.6/style.css

    Near the beginning of this file there's a style:

    body,
    td,
    th {
    	color: #fff;
    	font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;
    	font-size: 13px;
    	line-height: 21px;
    }

    This is the style.css file for your theme
    http://www.wayofinfiniteharmony.org/wp-content/themes/sixhours/style.css

    Near the beginning of this file there's a style:

    body,
    td,
    th {
    	color: #333333;
    	font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;
    	font-size: 13px;
    	line-height: 21px;
    }

    I am confused as to why your style.css file has this different colour if this wasn't edited by someone.

    Can you try deactivating plugins to explore whether any could be responsible?

    i assume it must be some kind of global setting I cant think of or something to make both the page text AND the sidebar navigation dots be incorrectly displayed

    After you reinstalled the theme, did you clear your browser's cache? Browser often save old versions of webpages.

    SOLVED!

    I hadn't put CloudFlare into development mode, so although it was updating everything else as I went it was only doing the CSS every 2 hours!
    Sorry for the confusion / bafflement!
    Thank you for the help!
