After upgrading I have no menu in the editor when I open an existing file.
I tried to roll back but now nothing works.
Well, as you can imagine, I really appreciate to see my work going down the drain.

Btw. its is really annoying to write a post here in the forum and when forget to give it a topic title and you press “post”, you get a message to give it a title and it sends you back to the main page and everything you have written is gone. So I don’t going to write anything else. I’m going to look for another CMS.

All my friggin work is gone!

I wonder why there is so much to fix after upgrading. I had to delete all upgraded files and installed the former version manually. Then I had to fix the content. That safed my work, but not my day 🙁

I forgot to mention: my post regards to the 3.4 upgrade.

Can someone please help me with this. I called my hosting provider ‘GoDaddy’ since they offer the WP Application as a SERVICE and they can’t help me now since the update apparently didn’t complete….

This is the error I am getting: Fatal error: Cannot redeclare debug_fopen() (previously declared in D:\Hosting\9212138\html\wp-includes\functions.php:1133) in D:\Hosting\9212138\html\wp-includes\deprecated.php on line 2883

    This is my site: http://8bitbrit.com/

I need help, I don’t know how to fix it within my FTP as they suggested I do. No I don’t have a back up of things at this time. Please email me [email address removed] or respond. I’m in dire need of help.

    Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

I tried running the upgrade manually, no prevail. I don’t really know anything about my FTP since I rarely go in there and I’m not a back end of the site person… I don’t have an IT person for this since in 2 years of using WP I’ve never had an issue ever.

I really don’t know how to go about the changes you are suggesting with out completely ruining the backend of my site.

Do you have file level access to your WordPress installation? That’s frequently via FTP but some hosts provide a web page for file management.

    Yes I do.

From visiting your site, it looks like you have the 3.3.2 files there.

If you can, download the WordPress files to your PC. Then using the file manager for your WordPress server upload all the files except for wp-content. Leave that one directory on your PC (or Mac).

Looking at the Google cache version of your site, it looks like all your files are still there. That’s not surprising since the upgrade doesn’t touch those. 😉

If you can manage it outside of the WordPress dashboard, make a full backup of all the works.

This is a just in case measure.

I am sure this is soo very simple, but trying to understand it from someone who relied on WP support and never having to go into my FTP for any reason makes me feel very dumb. What is the best way to download them?

I will do all that you have suggested. I appreciate it. Sincerely do.

I’m sorry, but it may be best to involve your hosting company. You’re running on a Windows server and all of my advice would be along the lines of Linux/UNIX commands.

If they can provide you with FTP access, and you know how to use Filezilla or a similar program, then it’s very straight forward to put the new files there. But it does require some familiarity with your environment.

I did call them. For an hour I went over things with them they don’t support the WP App they offer. GoDaddy ftw. I also just switched it to the Linux as you suggested and will take a bit to switch over. So I’ll wait for that then try to do everything suggested since I can’t access my FTP.

Really do appreciate your help. Very kind of you and I hope you get told that a lot for your time and knowledge.

Hey Jan, you around? I am set up now with the linux hosting side but I am still having issues.
