Clicked the install 2.8 version while in my site and now my sites bomb with the following message:
Fatal error: Call to undefined method WordPress_Module::_weak_escape() in /home/dundee/public_html/workoutsforwomennow.com/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 487

It looks like there might be a couple of resolutions in some of these discussions on the exact same error, right down to the line number. See if anything seems at all helpful there.
