   Hi:

   I upgraded my WordPress 2.0 installation to 2.04 through Fantastico in cPanel and it messed everything up.

   My site now looks like this:
   http://www.BlogViewsByRoz.com

   When I upgraded there were instructions to *reverse* if there was a problem.

   Not being a backend programmer I am not familiar with MySql, so my questions are:

   How does one *empty* the MySql database for my blog?

   How does one *Import* the backup.sql into the database?

   Also, is there a free software that will Untar the *.tgz that the backup is in?

   Thanks for any help you can provide. I would hate to have to delete the entire blog and start over.

   To drop your tables copy and paste these into the SQL query box in phpMyAdmin (assumes you use "wp_" for your table prefix):
   DROP TABLE wp_categories;
   DROP TABLE wp_comments;
   DROP TABLE wp_linkcategories;
   DROP TABLE wp_links;
   DROP TABLE wp_options;
   DROP TABLE wp_post2cat;
   DROP TABLE wp_postmeta;
   DROP TABLE wp_posts;
   DROP TABLE wp_usermeta;
   DROP TABLE wp_users;

   I think this utility will help with the .tgz file:

   Thanks Michael:

   I will try. I think I have someone to walk me through removing the files via phone. I never did it and very much want to learn in the event of me having to do it again I will be able to do it myself.

   Yes... the files are name wp_

   Hello Again Michael:

   A friend helped me remove the files from the database and rebuild it. THANK YOU!!! We used your list in MyPHPAdmin (do I have that backwards?)

   After all of this it still did not work, but after fiddling around and deleting a problematic entry all was well again and the site looks normal.

   What I would like to know is *how one entry could cause so much trouble?* I had a great deal of problems with this entry. I could not get paragraph spacing between the paragraphs and the entry was like one large paragraph. No matter what I did I could not get it to work. In fact, I thought my Blog was broke and that is why I upgraded in the first place yesterday!

   I am almost inclined to think that the upgrade might worked now that that entry is no longer there, but I don't have the time right now to try it again.

   I might create a test blog and see how it works after my rush time in the next two weeks.
