Upgrade questions

    I’m new to wordpress and love using it. An upgrade to 2.8.1 has become available. I’m planning on doing a full backup this evening, but was wondering if my custom theme and plugins will remain intact during the upgrade. I made several changes to my current theme and plugins to suit my needs and wasnt sure if the auto upgrade option would overwrite any of these changes.

    do you have a custom theme installed?

    the upgrader doesnt overwrite custom themes. The ONLY directories inside the themes dir that are even at risk of being changed are whats inside wp-content/themes/default and wp-content/themes/classic

    Hi,

    Your theme will remain intact..as during the upgrade process wp-contents folder does not overwrite…so do not worry for that..

    If you are doing manual upgrade then do not restore the wp-contents folder from new version.
