upgrade 1.5 -> 2: index renders blank (7 posts)

    My upgrade has not gone well. I followed the instructions carefully, twice, yet the result has been a failure. The upgrade script appears to complete itself in less than a second. The home page of the blog is blank (there is nothing in view source, either), yet the dashboard still functions, and the posts and comments appear intact. One last clue, the theme windows on the theme index page are also blank.

    Can someone point me in the general direction of how to troubleshoot what has gone wrong? My only option I know of at this point is to migrate the entire blog onto a new test server with a fresh install, try exporting and importing the data, then repeating the process from the test server back to a live one.

    Thank you!

    Do you have any plugins active? One of them might be incompatible with WP2. Disable your all your plugins and temporarily switch to the default Kubrick theme. If your site works after that, try re-enabling them one by one to pin down the culprit.

    No, I was careful not to have any active plugins, which was not difficult, since I've never used them anyway. But I did double check before upgrading to insure that all the plugins were deactivated.

    And does switching to the default theme help?

    Unfortunately no, that does not work either. The problem appears systemic, none of the display themes work.

    If you have access to your web server's error logs, you should look at them and see what sort of errors are begin generated that preent WordPress from displaying. If you do not, ask your host to see if they can help you.

    Sorry, I'm out of ideas. You can try looking through some of these search results: http://wordpress.org/search/blank?forums=1

    Is there a .htaccess in the blog directory? If so, what happens if you temporarily rename it?
