upgrade 1.2 to 1.5

I’ve upgrade my wp 1.2 to 1.5 and because it didn’t went like the famous 5 minute install seems to promise i thought it would be helpfull for some if i posted my upgrade process:

– First, backup everything, files and database
– Direct upgrade to 1.5 gives me the error Fatal error: Call to undefined function: __() in /../wp-admin/admin-functions.php on line 857 when performing /wp-admin/upgrade.php. So, i first upgraded to 1.2.2.
– Upgrade from 1.2.2 to 1.5 = same as above. I had to upgrade to the oldest nightly build available (wordpress-2004-12-24). This went smoothly.
– After this, upgrading to 1.5 went equally smooth.

So, resume. Upgrading 1.2 Mingus to 1.5 alpha xx needs to be done in a few steps: 1.2 -> 1.2.2 -> nightly 2004-12-24 -> 1.5 alpha. It is not very complex but i can imagine it could be a mindboggler.

Of course, since the nightly builds aren’t official versions, i couldn’t expect a smooth 5 minute install/upgrade. Which i didn’t get, so WordPress didn’t let me down 🙂
