Okay, so im using a beta from 1-5-05 say I want to update to 1-10-05?

Do I just overwrite the files or do I have to backup the database and do a fresh install then add the database back in mysql? Just wondering? The latter way seems tedious.

Normally, you can just delete all the files from the old nightly and upload the new nightly files, then run /wp-admin/upgrade.php. Just don't delete/overwrite any themes you've added (or modified, if you've played with the Classic or Default themes in 1.5). Personally, I just upload everything except the /wp-content folder every night; I only delete the previous version's files if the new version doesn't include them anymore.

I've started posting exactly which files change between nightly versions at http://codex.wordpress.org/Changelog/1.5 - if you've done a lot of modifying you might only want to replace the files that have changed.

Of course, always backup your database first :)
