Updating WP – Deactivated Plugins with error

    I was receiving an error while trying to update to 3.9 and I read that one of the plugins may be causing the issue. I proceeded to deactivate and attempt to update but I received the same error. I went back to activate the plugins and now I’m getting this error:

    Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_register_plugin_realpath() in /home/content/71/7370971/html/wp-admin/plugins.php on line 150

    What do I do?

    Note: I am brand new to this site. I received responsibility for my company’s site from the previous assistant and I’ve already screwed it up. 🙂

    – try MANUALLY re-uploading all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones. Read the Manual Update directions first!
    – BTW, if you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong. It’s a great safety net.
