Updating to WordPress 2.7 (3 posts)

I need to update to WordPress 2.7 so that I can make use of the Thesis theme that I bought.BUT when I click on update it enables me to download which means going through the hassle of backing up my website, and wading through pages of instructions. I could just drop the current site and start all over again but I don't want to have to do this each time I need to update. Does anyone know of a hosting company that does automatic updates ? I am with Hostgator and they tell me that they cannot do this.

Note: Once you get to 2.7 this will no longer be an issue. 2.7 (and up) includes a built-in updater...

    Hi

There is a plugin you can install that will backup and auto-update your older version of WP. Once you get to 2.7 you must disable the plugin as it interferes with the built in auto-update.

It will save you time upgrading
