Support » Fixing WordPress » Updating to 3,8 fatal error

  • When trying to update to the newest version I get the following error:

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/home/pfeb182858/domains/idaboreparaties.nl/public_html/wp-content/upgrade/version-current.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/pfeb182858/domains/idaboreparaties.nl/public_html/wp-admin/includes/update-core.php on line 669

Anyone knows how I can fix this?
    Help would be greatly appreciated!

    Regard!

  • Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the root wp-config.php & .htaccess files and the the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

thanks for the fast response, but i’m a bit confused. How can I do this? (Simple steps)

    Regard

You will need to use FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

So just reuploading the same files as I have now? And what do I need to delete, cant I just overwrite the files?

Over-writing the files may not be sufficient, so we recommend that you that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

So I manually delete wordpress from my server? And Upload the new (3.8 Files)?

No! Delete all files & folders except the root wp-config.php & .htaccess files and the the wp-content folder. Then upload fresh copies of the files & folders that you have deleted.

Oke So if I do it like this:

    1. Delete the files and folders except the ones you stated from remote host.
    2. Upload these SAME files from localhost again

I’m sorry if I do not understand you, but how would this solv the issue since the files are the same? Or are the fresh copies, the new 3,8 files?

Delete the files and folders except the ones you stated from remote host.

    Yes.

Upload these SAME files from localhost again

No. Upload the files & folders from a fresh download of WordPress.
