What are the risks involved in loosing all your files if you update from 3.3.1 to 3.3.2? I don’t want to loose all the work I’ve done so far. Thank you.

    What files have you changed?

Ok there is this warning when you visit the Codex page: “the upgrade process will affect all files and folders included in the Main WordPress installation, this includes all the core files used to run WordPress”. I don’t quite understand what this means? So what files/folders are they talking about?

WordPress itself consists of hundreds of scripts – commonly referred to as “core”. Whilst we do try our best to discourage people from amending any of these core files, some still do. That warning is primarily there for them.

As long as you haven’t gotten into any advanced PHP hacking or made any changes to the default Twenty Eleven theme, you’ll be fine. Your content will remain quite safe in your database (although you should always make a backup before you upgrade) and your non-default theme will stay untouched. 🙂

ok Thank you! I have another question, I hope it’s ok to ask it here:
The other update that appeared on my dashboard has to do with updating the ‘themes’. I am using the ‘Mystique’ version 2.5.1 and the new update is to version 2.5.6. Once again the warning says that “any customizations you have made to theme files will be lost. Consider ‘child themes’ modifications. Thanks again for your help!

Have you made any changes to your theme’s files?

I cannot add media to my posts anymore. When I click on the media button the screen goes dark and nothing else happens. Any suggestions?

@hoopseducation, please create your own thread. It is impolite it interrupt someone else’s topic like that.
