   I am taking over a blog and am very new to WP and I want to update the info displayed at the very bottom in the footer
   Copyright © 2009 Webblog. All Rights Reserved.

   Is there some universal location where this is coming from? Or is it not that simple?

   Try looking in your theme's footer.php template file.
