• Hello!

I’ve been in the process of transferring all our websites from the old server to the new, however, there is 1 website that is giving me problems. After I upgraded WP, the whole CMS looks like it’s missing stylesheets or something. it’s not the nice all black navigation. Instead, it’s a all wire frame like.

Has anyone had this issue? And if so, how do I go about fixing this issue?

I don’t know how to upload a picture from here.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Did you follow the relevant instructions in Moving_WordPress?

Well all the sites I’ve been transferring are completely the same. Its only this one that’s giving me problem and not sure why. I can try to deactivate and what not but this is my 4th time trying to bring this site over from the old server to the new. All the other sites have updated wo any problem. All our sites uses the same templates as well.

Okies, well i deactivated everything and switched to a different theme as you suggested, somehow the theme on this site, I guess something is wrong with it. Will try removing it and download it from one of the working sites!

    You’re welcome. 🙂

Actually looks like its one of the plug ins. I selected all to reactivate and bam! Okies, I guess I have to activate them 1 by 1 to see which one the culprit it! Thanks a bunch!

Oh lord, I’m totally lost now. =/ Seems like its the plug in and then the theme. I have no idea how to fix this wo actually redoing the whole site.

Can you replicate the problem using the default Twenty Fourteen theme with all plugins deactivated?

    So I’ve tried 2 scenarios

    1. Used default theme that comes with wp and deactivated the plugins. WP went back to looking normal. With this theme, I then reactivated all the plugins and it broke again.

    2. All plugins deactivated and switched back to our companies theme and it broke.

So I’m not sure if it is the theme or the plugins. I can try just having a clean copy with the companies theme and see if that breaks anything but I’m assuming its going to be the same issue as #2.

Try (1) again but this time, activate the plugins one-by-one to see if you can locate the culprit plugin. It does sound like your old theme was at least part of the problem.
