I used the automatic update feature to update two plugins -- Akismet and author image -- and now my page is blank.

Any idea what happened, or how to recover? I can't even get to my admin screen now.

    Thanks,

    Greg

-deactivating ALL plugins temporarily to narrow down and possibly fix the problem. If the problem goes away, activate them individually to find the culprit.

If you don't have access to your admin area, try deactivating them manually via FTP or phpMyAdmin.

Thanks. I do not have access to the wordpress admin, so I'll have to do it manually. How do I do that? Is that phpMyAdmin or is that in a file somewhere?

Excellent. Those are good instructions. Thank you.

To update the thread, here's what I did.

In wp-content I renamed the plugins directory to plugins_old, and created a new directory called plugins. That allowed me to get in to my admin interface, but of course my plugins were not working.

I copied into the new plugins directory all the plugins I had not updated. Then I went back into my admin and re-activated them, and then onto my site to make sure everything was still working.

Once that looked good, I added the other plugins. Looks like the trouble was an openid plugin (not author image, as I said originally).
