   I had just updated to 2.8 today and now my categories are not showing up on the site. All that shows on my navigation bar is "no categories". All of the posts are there, but just the navigation is not showing up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

   Try repairing your database tables with phpMyAdmin.

   A database backup might be in order before doing that.

   Thank you Micheal, I actually just found the answer in my header.php file. Database was/is fine. Everything appears to be working fine now.

   For me it was because I am using the My Category Order plugin. This plugin requires changes to taxonomy.php. These changes will have to be made again on the new copy of taxonomy.php you got with 2.8.

   I updated to 2.8.3 just last night, and all my categories disappeared. They were in the DB, but were not showing on the posts or in the dashboard. Since it was way late, I decided to wait till today to start chasing the category monster, but this morning, all my categories are showing in the dashboard and on my posts.
