Updated Links Possible? (6 posts)

    Hey all, Happy New Year.

Got a quick question, and I haven't found the answer to this even though I've searched. If it's obvious, then I apologize because I probably missed an obvious search criteria. So I hope I'm not wasting anyone's time:

I want to display updated blogs in my links list a la Blogrolling. How? I see fields in which to display an RSS icon for something, but just out of the box WP doesn't appear to star/mark any updated blogs in the list.

Can this be done? Am I missing some incredibly obvious check box? Maybe I am.

I recently imported all my blogrolling.com links to my WP links manager and I just don't see it. So if somebody could point me out to the obvious check box/field/samhain ritual at midnight with a chicken spinning over my head, I'd be most gracious.

And if it's obvious, you can flame me but I won't read it today as I still have a hangover.

I guess barely anyone was reading yesterday. :)

Is there no way to do this? I'm just curious. Am I missing something?

In Options/Miscellaneous, check the "Track Links Update Times" option. Then you'll need to run a cron job on the [enter domain url here]wp-admin/update-links.php file

Then you can set your blogroll to display sort order as updated

    Thanks gregorsmith.

Couple questions though: Set a cron job to how often? Are we talking about every hour or so?

Also, will I need to put in the feed.php/atom.php/xml.rss/whatever address for each link? If not, how does it know? Does it automatically find/track it when the cron runs?

I'm also curious to know if it will */flag any updated blogs, and/or if this is customizable?

Options/misc...whodathunkit? It should be in the links manager options. :) Not misc options. Heh.

Gonna set up a cron job now and thanks for the info so far.

Also one more thing: Would the cron job be the url with http:// in front of it, or just a relative path or something? IE:

    Cron: <path>/wp-admin/update-links.php

    Much appreciated.

I take it by more silence that nobody has the answer to these questions? :)
