Update Options not working on local computer

WP 2.05 on Xampp, Win XP, Zone Alarm – Update options gives me a 404 error (ALL update options, not just discussion ones)

http://localhost/projects/wordpress202.05/wp-admin/
options-discussion.php?updated=true

I know others have had this problem here

and there was meant to be a fix but the download page has disappeared.

Any simple solutions?
