Update broke wp_list_authors function (4 posts)

Recently updated to WP3.1, thought everything went perfectly fine, but then I noticed that one of my archive pages:

    http://www.allthingsplc.info/wordpress/archives-author.php

isn't working. I got it semi-functional, but the function wp_list_authors seems to be breaking and the rest of the page won't load.

If you click around on the tabs, you'll see that the other archive pages work fine. (Before you chastise me - I know this isn't the ideal wp setup, but I inherited this design and it's a complicated issue.)

Things I've done to try to solve the problem:
    1. deactivated all plugins (this caused problems on other pages but didn't solve the problem)
    2. deactivated and removed the "coauthors" plugin; this didn't help (in fact this causes the whole page to not load)

I would be truly grateful for any help.

A note - sometimes, when I try to visit the page I linked to above, it just comes up blank. I can't to save my life figure out what's wrong here! I am using the same template for these other pages:
    http://www.allthingsplc.info/wordpress/archives-tag.php
    http://www.allthingsplc.info/wordpress/archives-cat.php
and for some reason this ONE function, wp_list_authors, wont' work!

    I can't imagine it's a WP3.1 problem...

Maybe this helps, it's the code for the page that isn't working correctly:

I ended up solving (with tons of help from haxxxton!) the problem here by just getting the info from the user database. My solution can be found here:

BUT I still can't figure out why wp_list_authors() wouldn't work. It's a mystery. Can anyone help with this?
