[resolved] Upcoming Events Widget Based on Location? (3 posts)

Hello...Im trying to incorporate event manager plugin into a site...And I plan to use the Widget for Upcoming Events...

However, my issue is, since this site has Events for numerous different Cities/States is there a way that the Widget on the sidebar can be filtered based on the location the visitor to the site is from?...

For example, if a random visitor from California comes to the site...then, seeing "Upcoming Events" on the Widget for upcoming events in New York might not be helpful.

I do know Events can be filtered on the main Event List Page...However, I need to know if this can be done on the widget.

Is there away a visitor can change/filter what Upcoming Events are being displayed on the widget based on their location?

Any type of reply or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

At the moment there's no way to offer that option directly with the standard widgets that come with the plugin. But there's a workaround that I think will achieve the same thing.

Using a Text widget, you could create static links to the dedicated location pages. Those links would look something like this:

    <a href="http://www.yoursite.com/locations/san-francisco/">San Francisco</a>

Obviously you'd need to change yoursite.com and the location to suit your site and the locations you want to highlight.

    Would that work?

hmmm, that might be a possible option...Maybe I can create a city list of primary cities..and the visitor would just need to select the appropriate one that way.

Thank you, I appreciate the suggestion - I will look into this.
