Deactivate all plugins and see if that gets rid of it. If it does, the culprit is a plugin. Failing that, switch to the default theme. No popup? Then it was in your theme.
If both the above fail, then check all of your WP files. You could have fallen victim to an injection hack.

I have deactivated all the the plugins with no luck. I also switched to the default theme. No luck there either. The popup ad still comes up. What are my options here? Should I reinstall wordpress? Could it have been pasted in from an article somehow? Thanks for your input:-)
Try removing all Text Widgets from your sidebar using Admin/Appearance/Widgets.
I didn’t see any pop-ups, but the local traffic report widget was acting a bit odd. Try removing it. Getting pop-up ads on sites without them can be a sign that your computer has been infected with adware.
I got a popup notice on the first site visit. And this machine is regularly scanned, checked and dusted. 🙂 I did notice that 1 of the 3 frames from that traffic notice widget was pretty js heavy and wondered if a popup was being introduced that way.

Got it! It was the Local traffic report. I removed it and the popups went away. It was ugly as sin anyway:) Thanks a lot to esmi and iridiax for your time and advice I really appreciate it:)
